At NREL, most staff members are one-of-a-kind. That’s what you would expect in a national lab full of creative researchers. But even among them, principal researcher Anthony Florita, Ph.D. stands out. In a group of almost all electrical engineers, he is the only one trained as an architectural engineer. Rather than top-down thinking about the grid, he has a unique bottom-up approach starting with understanding the actual power demands from buildings.
